Fearless, unique and unforgettable are just a few adjectives that describe Turquoise Barney. Turquoise is a wife, mother, mentor, entrepreneur and modern day mom-preneur. She is originally from Northern California, but now resides in Atlanta, GA. Turquoise is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of CSU Stanislaus ; having obtained her Bachelors of Science degree in Social Work with a minor in Business Administration and early childhood education.
Turquoise, like her name, has always stood out and has innately chosen to take alternative avenues when it comes to her life and what she wants out of it. After graduating with her degree, she entered corporate America in an attempt to obtain her fair share of the “American Dream” formula. Turquoise soon discovered that this world was not for her. No matter how much she advanced in the traditional 9-5 arena, she never reached a point of contentment. There was always a longing for something more; something that would satisfy her soul and affirm her purpose in the world. With that said, Turquoise decided to trust her instincts, and allowed her passions and heart to guide her towards her destiny.
Destiny soon led her to her husband, Marcus Barney, with whom she has successfully built a loving family, several thriving businesses and an entrepreneurial empire that has built and launched the careers of hundreds of aspiring entrepreneurs throughout the United States. Turquoise currently owns two tax firms, Recession Proof Tax & Co., as well as co-owns an online education mentorship called Recession Proof; which provides mentees with financial literacy education that is crafted to promote and create generational wealth.
When asked how she juggles it all, Turquoise says, “Being a wife, mom, and entrepreneur is an honor, but it is hard work!” With the demands of business, motherhood and entrepreneurship each requiring her attention and care simultaneously at times, Turquoise has realized that she had to create systems to allow her to seamlessly switch the multiple hats that she wears at any given time. As her life continues to evolve, Turquoise plans to keep learning, building and inspiring others to find their unique paths that will allow them to uniquely stand out and leave their marks on the world.
