Cynthia Horner, CEO/Publisher of Right On! Magazine and its media platform RightOnDigital.com, is one of the most well-known and respected media professionals in magazine publishing. She was recently elected President of the New York Association of Black Journalists INYABJ) for a 2026-2028 term of office. The chapter consists of over 300 professional members in the NYC area.
As a journalist, her name is tied in with many well-known entertainers, including the late Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, The Jacksons, the late Prince, and New Edition. Miss Horner brought most of these artists to public attention through her leadership at Right On! Magazine, one of the most influential magazines in the history of African-American culture.
A graduate of the Seaver College of Pepperdine University, Malibu, California with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Spanish and Journalism, she has spent her entire career in the communications industry as an editor and journalist for a variety of newsstand and digital publications. At last count, she has been responsible for publishing millions of magazines covering the gamut of subject matter, including such topics as beauty, fashion, news, music, film, television, and trendsetting hot topics.
A philanthropist, she sits on the boards for The Youth Development Foundation, Inc., and serves as an integral part in leadership roles with the Hip Hop Alliance (founded by Chuck D., KRS-One, and Rev. Kurtis Blow) and African Views. Moreover, for more than three decades, she has been a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., where she has held numerous positions, including the title of president.
An entrepreneur, she is the founder of Cynthia Horner’s Independent Production Services (Cinnamon CHIPS), under which she spearheads public relations projects and event planning. Horner, who has been described as the preeminent hip hop journalist in the country by the Seaver College Department of Communications, has served as the Editor in Chief of Hip Hop Weekly, Harlem Community News, and Word Up! In 2024, she was selected as one of 15 journalists to participate in a community reporters fellowship for the Center of Community Media in conjunction with the CUNY’s Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism.
She frequently appears on television programs, and most recently was seen on such documentaries as Tupac: Cover Up (Tubi); The Night Stalker Lost Tapes (Peacock); Sean Diddy Combs: The Verdict (CBS News 24/7); and Michael Jackson: The Lost Childhood (Reelz Network).
On October 3, 2025, she received the Media Icon Award from the #Living Legends Foundation. In advance of the gala, she appeared in Upscale, rollingout.com, Billboard, and numerous other media platforms, including Cafe Mocha, WAOK, WCLK. She is married to fellow NYABJ member Kenneth Harris (KENTHEPHOTOGRAPHER) of Right On! Media Holdings, LLC.
