Andre Dickens is an American politician, civic leader, and the 61st Mayor of Atlanta, Georgia, serving since January 3, 2022. A native Atlantan and product of Atlanta Public Schools, Dickens brings decades of experience in public service, nonprofit leadership, and community development to his role as the city’s chief executive—focused on expanding equity, opportunity, and prosperity for all residents.
Before becoming mayor, Dickens served eight years on the Atlanta City Council as an at‑large member, where he championed public safety, transportation improvements, affordable housing, workforce development, and educational opportunities. During his council tenure, he helped establish the city’s Department of Transportation, sponsored legislation raising the minimum wage for city employees, and supported inclusionary zoning to increase affordable housing.
Since taking office, Dickens has overseen historic investments in affordable housing, homicides reduction initiatives, and strategic public safety programs. Under his leadership the city achieved a AAA bond rating, expanded community support programs, and launched initiatives like the Nightlife Division to enhance safety in areas with high crime. His administration has also worked to strengthen early childhood education, youth engagement, and housing stability efforts.
A Georgia Institute of Technology alumnus with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a Master of Public Administration from Georgia State University, Dickens has also led nonprofit development as chief development officer of TechBridge, an organization that provides technology expertise to underserved communities. In 2025 he was re‑elected to a second term as mayor, continuing his agenda of inclusive growth and civic advancement.
Beyond his official duties, Dickens has served on numerous regional boards and civic organizations. He is recognized for strengthening Atlanta’s regional leadership, boosting infrastructure investment, and advocating for policies that enhance quality of life for diverse communities across the city.
