Timeekah “Murph” Murphy is an American fashion designer, entrepreneur, and cultural innovator whose work has reshaped gender expression and creative empowerment in contemporary fashion. Born in Newark, New Jersey, and raised in the vibrant streets of The Bronx, New York, Murphy channels the bold energy and resilience of her upbringing into a visionary design aesthetic rooted in inclusivity and confidence.
Before breaking into fashion, Murphy proudly served 12 years in the United States Army, where she began teaching herself how to sew — driven by a desire to express her personal style and challenge conventional fashion norms. It was during this time that her passion for androgynous design first blossomed and ultimately became the foundation for her future brand.
After leaving the military, Murphy launched Alani Taylor in 2016, naming the brand after her daughter. Her mission was clear: craft gender-free, luxury streetwear and high-fashion pieces that blur traditional boundaries of fashion while affirming self-expression and empowerment for all identities.
Under Murphy’s creative direction, Alani Taylor quickly garnered attention for its reworked proportions, layered silhouettes, and bold, statement-making designs that defy gender norms and serve as a canvas for personal confidence.
Murphy’s work has attracted global acclaim. Her designs have been worn by icons including Beyoncé, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, DaBaby, Nelly, and Nick Cannon — most notably with Beyoncé wearing Alani Taylor in the visual album Black Is King.
In addition to her design accomplishments, Murphy has appeared on HBO Max’s fashion competition series The Hype, which showcases rising streetwear designers from across the United States.
Beyond fashion, Murphy is deeply committed to community empowerment. She is the visionary behind The Lab Factory ATL, a premier apparel production hub in Atlanta that offers designers and creatives access to cutting-edge manufacturing, mentorship, and collaborative opportunities.
Through her work, Murphy continues to inspire a new generation of designers — proving that fashion can be both fearless in expression and inclusive in its reach.
